Every year corporations steal nearly $100 Billion in public funds through the use of tax loopholes and offshore accounts. On April 10th, Luminous Intervention took part in a nationwide effort to spread awareness about these corporate tax evaders. We teamed up with activist groups and grassroots organizations all over the country to bring the Tax Evaders video game to Fells Point! Passersby were encouraged to participate in our interactive, realtime version of the Tax Evaders game, which was projected on to the wall of a local Bank of America branch.  ...see more about Tax Evaders

#Camp83 Pop-up

During rush hour on March 8th Luminous Intervention did a popup projection on a transit bridge that crosses highway 83, visible to Northbound traffic. The projection was in support of the homeless encampment knows as Camp 83, which was  located below a downtown overpass, and which had been a long-term home for those who had found no room at the City's homeless shelter, or had resented the enforced curfew hours and rules there. ...see more about #Camp83 Pop-up

The JHU Human Rights Working Group (HRWG) and Baltimore artists-activists Luminous Intervention teamed up to put drones on the agenda during Gen. Stanley McChrystal's campus talk.

Audience members for General Stanley McChrystal's Foreign Affairs Symposium talk were greeted with an art installation illustrating that drones are illegal, wrong and reckless. The event was part of the Human Rights Working Group's ongoing campaign to raise awareness about Johns Hopkins' connection to drone warfare.

Guantanamo Unraveled

Eleven years after its opening, and four years after Pres. Obama signed an order to close it, the US is still holding over 200 prisoners in the US detention facility at Guantanamo. The majority of these prisoners have been cleared of wrongdoing by the US and are victims of circumstance. At a time when the Bush Administration needed to show progress in detaining "the worst of the worst," innocent men and children were arrested, tortured, and indefinitely detained. Luminous Intervention partnered with Witness Against Torture, a leading voice for the closure of Guantanamo, to project a visual reminder of Guantanamo's continued existence and Pres. Obama's promises to close it. The projection took place on January 12th in Washington D.C, the day after Guantanamo's 11th anniversary.

Ballot Questions Over Rt 83

In preparation for tomorrow's election, members of artist-activist project Luminous Intervention beamed ballot-question themed slogans onto a bridge over Route 83 during rush hour traffic this evening. Today's action followed on the heels of an equality-themed luminous alteration of The Natty Boh/Utz Girl proposal billboard in Station North on Friday.

Luminous Intervention is a series of large-scale outdoor projections highlighting social and economic issues relevant to Baltimore and its people.
